Find St. Louis County Released Inmates

St. Louis County released inmates are confirmed through records that follow a person after county custody ends. A search for St. Louis County released inmates must distinguish the county from the independent City of St. Louis, then match the person to the jail, court, or receiving agency. St. Louis County released inmates may return to the community, enter Missouri corrections custody, move to another jail, or begin supervision. The right record depends on that destination. A St. Louis County released inmate search therefore uses the county release entry, court history, state corrections data, and official request channels together.

St. Louis County Release Meaning

A final release entry means the agency has ended its own custody record. It does not always mean the person went home. The St. Louis County Department of Justice Services operates the county jail, while Ferguson and Florissant keep separate municipal detention records. A person can leave one of those systems on bond, after a court order, when a sentence or hold ends, or because another authority takes custody. The destination is as important as the release time. A transfer to the Missouri Department of Corrections, another municipality, federal officers, or immigration authorities is a release from the first jail but not a community release.

County Policy 1420 makes the final Integrated Jail Management System entry, known as IJMS, the key local event. Staff first authenticate the release authority, check warrants and holds, identify the person, settle property and funds, and secure approval. A current jail source usually drops the person after that work. The durable proof is the release packet and its destination field, obtained from the office that performed the release.

Leaving a live jail roster is a lead, not proof of community release. Confirm the final IJMS entry and the receiving authority.

St. Louis County Release Types

Justice Services recognizes several release authorities, and each points to a different next check. A bond or court order can return someone to the community while the case remains open. A sentence expiration ends the local custodial term. A transfer ends county custody but begins another agency's custody. Policy 1420 also identifies expiration of a 24-hour hold, release pending a warrant application, citation or summons, paid fine and costs, and mistaken identity.

Release typeWhat it meansNext source
Bond or court orderCounty detention ends under court authorityCase.net and the IJMS release record
Sentence expirationThe local custodial term has endedCounty release packet and court judgment
MODOC transferCounty custody ends while state custody beginsMODOC Offender Search
Other authorityA municipality, federal agency, ICE, or another jail receives the personThe named receiving agency
Hold or warrant eventThe stated detention basis ends or another legal process controlsRelease authority, court docket, and warrant check

Temporary movement is different. A medical trip, funeral pass, weekender movement, or split-sentence entry does not prove that custody ended. The records should say final release and identify where the person went.

Note: A county database exit can mark a transfer, so the release destination must be read before describing the person as home.

St. Louis County Release Record Fields

St. Louis County does not issue one universal release certificate. The useful evidence is a packet tied to the final IJMS event. A narrow request should name the fields and forms needed, because asking for every record can increase search time and cost. The authorizing paper explains why release was permitted; the database time shows when jail staff completed it; the destination tells whether custody continued elsewhere.

Field or recordWhat it establishes
Name and inmate master numberLinks the release to the correct booking
Booking and final release timeMarks the county custody interval and final IJMS action
Release Approval ReportShows staff and supervisor processing
Bond, order, disposition, or sentence paperStates the legal authority for release
Detainer cancellation or warrant checkDocuments hold review where releasable
Release type and destinationDistinguishes community release from transfer
Property, funds, and photo checkSupports identity and closing procedures

Case.net may show the order that made release possible, but it is not the jail clock. Staff still review the directive, check other holds, and complete the release. An open case can continue after bond release, while a closed county booking can lead directly into state or federal custody.

Request St. Louis County Release Records

The official St. Louis County records portal routes a Sunshine request to Justice Services. Police should receive police-originated arrest or incident requests, while Justice Services holds the county jail release event. Precise dates, identifiers, and named records reduce same-name errors.

  1. Confirm the person was held in St. Louis County, not the independent city, and note the facility or arresting agency.
  2. Give the full name, approximate booking and release range, and an inmate master or case number when known.
  3. Ask for the booking time, final IJMS release time, release type, destination, Release Approval Report, public authorizing paper, and booking photograph.
  4. Request all segregable fields and the specific legal basis for anything withheld.
  5. Ask for a cost estimate before work exceeds a limit chosen by the requester.

Missouri Chapter 610 requires action as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day. That is a response deadline, not a promise that production will finish then. Ordinary paper copies can cost ten cents per page, while research, electronic media, and necessary programming use the statutory cost rules. No flat county booking-photo fee was verified.

Closed or redacted material may include juvenile, medical, victim, investigative, expunged, or facility-security information. The statewide sheriff schedule offers a five-year minimum for certain detainee files, but it does not prove the exact Justice Services schedule or online visibility. Ask the county which schedule controls.

Note: Missouri's three-business-day rule governs the agency response, while record production may take longer when review, research, or redaction is needed.

Missouri Release Record Boundaries

Missouri law keeps many arrest and incident records open while allowing specific closures. Section 610.100 can close an arrest report after an arrest without charges within the statutory period, apart from the disposition and listed exceptions. Section 610.140 governs expungement eligibility and procedure, while Section 610.120 generally closes records after an expungement order subject to exceptions. An order must reach the agencies named in the case, so a court order and each custodian's response should be checked together.

Expungement
A court process that closes eligible official records under Missouri law.
Discharge
The end of a sentence or supervision obligation, not merely release from a jail building.
Detainer
A request or hold that can send a person to another authority instead of home.
Time served
Credit or a sentence outcome based on time already spent in custody.

Policy 1420 itself redacts some security-sensitive operations. A missing public record may reflect a lawful closure, not proof that no detention or release occurred. Retain the court order and ask each named agency to confirm its own record status.

St. Louis County Release Exit

County Policy 1420 places a community exit at the Justice Center release sallyport. A person without a ride may use a phone, but no official source promises a release time of day. Even after successful bond payment, county guidance warns that processing takes several hours. Identity checks, warrants, property, medication, papers, signatures, and the final IJMS entry all occur before physical departure.

St. Louis County Bond Release

The county's online bond path accepts major cards and asks for the defendant name, inmate master number, case number, bond amount, and a confirmation email. Its announcement also states that County Municipal Court bond for eligible people with multiple municipal warrants has been consolidated at Justice Services since September 2023. Payment authorizes processing; it does not create an instant or guaranteed exit.

St. Louis County Release Property

Policy 1420 gives unusual detail about the closing property process. Staff identify clothing and property, reconcile funds with the person present, document a mismatch, supply papers and available medication, and may provide spare clothing when the original cannot be used. Unresolved property concerns follow the internal contact named by staff. These steps help explain why court authorization and the jail's physical release time can differ.

Note: Property handling is part of release processing, but a property delay does not change which legal authority controls custody.

St. Louis County Release Support

Justice Services Community Corrections and the county's Pretrial Release Supervision program serve local legal processes that differ from MODOC parole. County Public Health also publishes a resource guide for people navigating recovery and services after justice involvement. Each program sets its own scope, so listing a service does not promise eligibility or placement.

St. Louis County Release Courts

The 21st Judicial Circuit handles state cases in St. Louis County, County Municipal Court handles county ordinances, and municipalities can maintain separate divisions. The independent city has its own circuit. Case.net can preserve a disposition or sentence after a jail name disappears, but only Justice Services or the relevant municipal jail proves when physical custody ended.

St. Louis County ICE Release

An ICE detainer can change an expected county release into a transfer to federal immigration custody. ICE describes a request for advance notice and custody for up to 48 additional hours so DHS can assume custody. No ICE detention center was verified within the county, which means the next record is external. An empty ICE locator result still cannot establish community release.

St. Louis County Release Network

St. Louis County does not have one simple sheriff roster. Ferguson identifies the Intake Service Center as the central county release point and the county location for stays over 48 hours, while a later resolution adds Jennings as a housing option. Florissant separately documents detention and local bond. A complete release check must follow both the sending and receiving record.

Note: The City Justice Center belongs to the independent City of St. Louis and must not be used as the county source.

Find St. Louis County Releases

The safest search follows identity, jurisdiction, court authority, physical release, and destination in that order. St. Louis County has no verified public recent-release grid. Its official jail-information page directs people to Justice Services, so a missing name cannot replace a release record.

  1. Confirm the county, facility, arresting agency, and case number. Exclude the independent City of St. Louis.
  2. Read the official Jail Inmate Information page for the county contact path.
  3. Search Case.net for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, warrant, or other release authority.
  4. Request the final IJMS event, release type, and destination from Justice Services.
  5. If the record names MODOC or another authority, continue in that agency's system.
  6. Use BOP, ICE, or USMS channels only when federal or immigration custody applies.

A no-result can also come from spelling, a new booking, transfer, sealed data, or the wrong jurisdiction. For a same-day records path, see Jail Releases: 24 Hours. The county record remains the proof of when local processing ended.

No St. Louis County Release Feed

No official rolling 24-hour or 72-hour St. Louis County release list, photo gallery, mobile app, or public retention window was verified. A current-custody list cannot be turned into a release feed by subtraction. The valid fallback is the jail-information contact path, court authority, a narrow county records request, and the receiving authority where transfer occurred.

This gap is especially important because municipal detention is fragmented. Ferguson records show that a person ready to leave county custody may be collected on a municipal matter. MODOC's active search and nightly history are separate state systems, not lists of people released from Clayton. For a three-day interval, request a releasable log or person-specific records with exact start and end times.

St. Louis County Release Supervision

Parole follows release from prison while legal custody and supervision continue. Probation can follow a judgment without a prison release. A field assignment in the active MODOC search can identify community supervision, but the assigned office must be read from the record rather than guessed from distance. St. Louis-area work is divided among Districts 8C, 8N, 8S, and regional or specialized District 7B.

No public name-searchable MODOC absconder database was found. An active field result does not prove compliance, and an empty result does not prove there is no warrant. Verify through the assigned office. Final discharge is stronger than parole release and may be shown by a discharge certificate, completed historical rows, and the absence of an active record when those sources agree.

St. Louis County Release Notifications

MODOC verifies its MOVANS victim-notification layer for state custody and parole events. Public VINELink exists, but authoritative proof that the St. Louis County Justice Center participates was not found. A live agency record can corroborate only the event and source it displays. A blank result proves nothing. Eligible victims can contact MODOC Office of Victim Services for the separate statutory path.

The BOP Inmate Locator can show a federal release date or no-longer-in-BOP-custody wording. That does not end supervised release or another sovereign's hold. ICE's current locator has similar no-result limits, while USMS records require the federal docket, actual holding jail, or an agency request. No BOP prison or ICE detention center was verified within St. Louis County.

Note: Notification systems report events from participating sources; they do not replace the final record held by the releasing or receiving agency.

St. Louis County Release Status

Each source answers a narrow custody question. Match the system to the agency that physically held or received the person, then compare timestamps when sources conflict.

St. Louis County Release Facilities

The county detention map has one central county jail and two documented municipal facilities. The Buzz Westfall Justice Center records county releases and transfers in IJMS. Ferguson may release locally, send a person to Clayton or Jennings, or retrieve a person on a municipal want. Florissant documents local detention and bond, with a separate receiving record if transfer follows.

The similarly named City Justice Center is outside this county system. Always use a facility address or court jurisdiction before choosing a records custodian.
